Commercial Investment Continues Across Greene County

Healthy communities grow through a combination of residential development, commercial investment, and thoughtful planning. Several projects currently moving through Greene County's planning process demonstrate continued confidence in the region's long-term future.

Among the most significant commercial projects is the proposed Barrel & Rail Brewpub & Events Center, planned for the former Lake Oconee Brewery property in Greensboro. The redevelopment would create a flexible entertainment and event venue while complementing recent improvements made to the adjacent historic train station property. Together, these investments have the potential to strengthen tourism, downtown activity, and community engagement.

Planning officials are also expected to revisit a proposal for an assisted living facility near the Interstate 20 interchange. Although additional regional review is required before the project advances, the proposal reflects growing demand for healthcare and senior living services within the region.

Additional commercial investment is also being proposed near Reynolds Lake Oconee, where plans have been submitted for a retail liquor store affiliated with Reynolds Lake Oconee. The store would be located along Linger Longer Road, just outside the community's gates.

As these and other projects continue to move forward, Greene County is also navigating staffing transitions within its Planning & Zoning Department. With development activity continuing to accelerate, experienced planning leadership will remain critical to guiding responsible growth and maintaining efficient development review processes.

While these projects vary in size and purpose, together they illustrate the diverse types of investment occurring throughout Greene County. Entertainment, hospitality, healthcare, retail, and community infrastructure all contribute to creating balanced economic development and supporting long-term regional success.

Builder Solutions Group will continue tracking development activity throughout Lake Country and sharing updates that highlight the projects shaping the future of our communities.
